There used to be a wise teacher. One of his students had gifted him a beautiful cup. The teacher was very fond of that cup and used it to drink his tea daily.
He used to tell others about that student and the cup. He was always grateful to the student for this lovely gift.
But he did one more thing every morning.
While holding the cup, he would say, “The cup is already broken.”
One day, someone inadvertently broke that cup.
Everyone was aghast knowing how much the wise man treasured that cup.
When the wise remained calm and kept smiling.
He calmly said, “Let’s clean this up.”
Isn’t it a beautiful lesson?
One should always be grateful and enjoy what one has. But at the same time, one should be ready to lose it as well without any agony or grievance.
